My client asked me which digital marketing efforts were best to attract the right candidate for a few available positions. Most business owners do not have extra money to spend on recruiting, but with these simple and free techniques– you can land your next all-star evangelist.

 

Post on your Company Page

This may seem like an obvious one, but posting on your LinkedIn company page is a great way to reach your target candidate pool. There’s a chance your potential candidate may already be following you on LinkedIn. Have you created a company page for your business? If not, here are some valuable resources that can kick-start your account creation.

Use the Advanced People Search Tool

The advanced search tool is one of the most powerful recruiting tools at your fingertips. Keep in the mind the following search criteria when coming through your candidates:

  • Keywords: The keyword field is where you can search for specific skills such as “software development”, “IT generalist”, or other qualifications. You can also search by geographic region, industries, and other skills.
  • Groups: Make sure not to overlook this one. There’s a possibility you and your potential candidate are part of the same group and when you reach out, it’s a great ice breaker.
  • Job Title: Don’t just search for your company’s open position. Get creative with different industry terms and buzzwords that will open your chances of finding the right candidate.

Create a Status Updates

Create a landing page for the open position on your website. Once you create the page, post the link and ask your network if they know of any candidate that’s interested in the position. Incentivizing your offer often helps with finding a candidate. It’s not uncommon to offer a referral fee for those that make an introduction.

There’s no doubt that LinkedIn is a powerful recruiting tool. It allows for small business that have very little budget to hire a recruiting agency or an in-house human resources representative. All you need to do is apply and you will be on track to finding the perfect candidate for your open position.
